Red Valve's Knife Gate Valves are the perfect compliment to their broad range of slurry handling products which are being used in a variety of industries and applications. All Red Valve Knife Gate Valves are designed and engineered to a higher standard to provide the best performance possible.
Standard features such as precision-machines gates, heavy-duty top works and cast-iron bodies up to 24" make the valves rugged and dependable. Other features such as replaceable wear seats, simplified packing replacement or solid stainless steel linings make the valves affordable and easy to maintain.

Red Valve's Series D Manual Actuated Flexgate Valve is designed with a cast iron body or fabricated steel body, stainless steel gate and two heavy-duty elastomer cartridge slurry seats. The port is formed by two heavy-duty cartridge elastomer slurry seat halves. The cartridge slurry seats are available in various elastomers for chemical compatibility and abrasion resistance. A flush area at the valve's base provides a clean-out port. The Flexgate Valve provides bi-directional shut off. A heavy-duty topworks is standard.

The relatively simple design eliminates expensive overhauls, unscheduled shutdowns and costly replacement parts. The only replacement parts are the slurry sleeves and the packing. Flexgate Valves of 3"-12" are provided with standard handwheel mechanisms featuring cast handwheels, machined 303 Stainless Steel stems with yoke sleeves and thrust washers designed to reduce operating torque. It is recommended that Manual Flexgate Valves 12" and larger be specified with a 4:1 bevel gear actuator. The 4:1 bevel gear actuator is available to reduce rim pull and operate the valve. Pneumatic actuators are also available and allow the Flexgate to provide long-term abrasion resistance under high cycle conditions.

The valve self cleans each time it is cycled, making it ideal for automated plants. Red Valve manufactures its actuators using a fiberglass reinforced epoxy resin. The actuator material is inert to most corrosive chemicals, hydraulic fluids, water and oil. It has an operating temperature range from -90° to 225° F, and can withstand maximum working pressures of 250 psi. Inside actuator walls are polished and impregnated with a molydisulfide for reduced friction and wear. The piston seal is a long-lasting O ring. The piston rod is sealed with a lip seal, which is protected by a rod wiper ring. This wiper ring prevents dirt from being dragged though the seal.

Red Valve's Series DX Slurry Knife Gate Valve is recognized as the most durable and user friendly knife gate valve designed for difficult slurry applications.

When the valve opens, the Series DX's reinforced elastomer sleeves seal against each other and provide a 100% full-port opening, which minimizes turbulence, which in turn eliminates wear. The seats isolate and protect all metal parts of the valve from coming in contact with the process.

When the valve is closed, the sleeves provide a drop-tight seal. Another unique feature to this valve is its ability to provide drop-tight shut off in both directions.

Each time the valve strokes, the Series DX Valve is designed to discharge a small amount of slurry out of the valve, which keeps the gate path and seat area clear of entrapped particulates. Unlike traditional knife gate valves, the DX prevents slurry build-up in the seat area, which might otherwise prohibit the valves ability to close.

A wiper blade mounted to the top of the valve eliminates process from leaking out of the top. The wiper blade also prevents external grit and debris from entering the valve body. An optional secondary packing gland is available for high cycle rate applications, which eliminates leakage through the top 100%!

Both the slurry sleeves and gate are field replaceable.

Extensive in-house testing and and proprietary formulation of elastomers allows us to guarantee our sleeves against fatigue or loss of compression and memory for 250,000 cycles!

To address concerns with slurry discharging from the slot in the valve, a plate style splash guard is utilized. Optional systems are available to pipe or flush the slurry away.
