Flap Valves
Also referred to as Flap Gates, Flap Valves are put on the end of a flanged pipe to allow the flow of water out of the pipe, but prevent anything from flowing back in, such as sticks, leaves or other debris. Under direct pressure the valve will open, and it will close when the pressure from outfall fluid is relieved.
Weighted Flap Valves
-
Weighted Flap Valves or Weighted Flap Gates, give added resistance to the lid, allowing for the valve to be angled downward (or even upside down) and still have the lid be closed. Under direct pressure the valve will open to allow water to flow out but closes to prevent debris from entering.
-
The location of the counterweight on the flap valve can be adjusted to allow flexibility in the field.
-
To prevent the lid from over-rotating for pump discharge applications, our weighted flap valves incorporate a mechanical stop.

As opposed to fabricated parts, Troy Valve's cast iron design has less potential for failure over time. Their flap valves also have a two-part epoxy coating that gives lasting protection against corrosion. The valves pins are made of stainless steel so they won’t corrode and bind up the valve.
Standard Flap Valves
-
Troy Valve's flap valves, also known as flap check/gate valves, are engineered for excellence in water management applications. Designed to attach seamlessly to the end of a flanged pipe, our flap valves allow water to flow out while preventing backflow and debris, such as sticks and leaves, from entering the system.
-
Ideal for use in tanks, lagoons, ponds, and water & wastewater plants, these valves ensure that sediment remains undisturbed at the bottom, promoting clearer water and less maintenance.

There is an option for addition of a resilient to bronze seating. This allows for a softer reseating surface and can offer an improved seal.
Stainless Steel Flap Valves
-
Penn-Troy offers a 4” flap valve in 304 and 316 stainless steel and a 6” valve in 316 stainless steel. Each disc is supplied with a buna-n seal.
